Abrasion-Resistant White Cast Iron 14

2.7 Middle chromium abrasion resistant white cast iron in high Si/ C

The chromium abrasion resistant white cast iron (7% ~ 9%Cr) in high Si/ C is developed on the basis of high chromium cast iron and low chromium cast iron. In recent years their are more and more applications researched and developed in China abroad. It is applicable to impact load, high stress abrasive wear condition. Especially ball mill grinding ball, lining board and other vulnerable parts in the condition of impact load and high stress wet grinding. The casting combines the advantages of high chromium cast iron and low chromium cast iron. Which improves the wear resistance while reducing the cost.

One of the characteristics is that its service matrix is martensite-bainite-austenite matrix. There are strengthening phases and ductile phases on the composite matrix. The inter-phase distribution of the complex matrix improves the strength and toughness of the cast iron, ensures the safety of the use of the impact load and the high stress abrasive wear, and improves the impact load and the high stress wear resistance.

The second characteristic is its main anti-wear phase. That is, most of the eutectic carbide is M7C3 structure with high hardness. Therefore it greatly improves the wear resistance of the cast iron.

The third characteristic is that the cost is lower than the common martensitic high chromium white cast iron, but the mechanical properties are equal to that of the martensitic high chromium cast iron.

The HRC of chromium wear resistant white cast iron in high Si/ C is 55~62. The impact toughness is 8 ~ 12J / cm2. The crushing rate of grinding ball is < 2%. The wear resistance of grinding ball (gold mine) is 4 times of the forged steel ball. And it is obviously superior to the martensitic chromium cast iron (Cr15) grinding ball.
